Scheduling workers is hard to do manually, especially when you’re trying to be efficient at speed and scale. There’s a lot to manage: Are you under or overstaffing? Do you need to account for regulations like required time between shifts? How do you handle worker assignments when shifts don’t have defined hours?
With the Nextmv Shift Scheduling app, you can start automating shift scheduling decisions in minutes. Send your worker and shift data to the app via a unique endpoint and get an optimized schedule with assignments returned. With another API call, you can ship these results to your scheduling managers, into your end-user interface, or wherever they need to go to keep your business running smoothly.

Use the Nextmv Shift Scheduling app to assign workers
To get started, sign up for a Nextmv account, and navigate to the marketplace to start a free trial of the Nextmv Shift Scheduling app.
To get an optimized shift schedule, all you need to do is define:
- Worker availability. What date and time is each worker available? (e.g., worker-1 is available from 08:00 to 15:00 on October 1, 2023)
- Demand per time slot. How many workers are required to meet demand per unit of time? (e.g., on October 1, 2023, 10 workers are needed from 08:00 to 08:30, 6 workers are needed from 08:30 to 9:00, etc)
By default, the app will optimize for meeting forecasted demand without under or overstaffing. You can, of course, configure the app to fit your use case. More on that next.
Configure the app to meet your scheduling requirements
The Nextmv Shift Scheduling app comes with the following out-of-the-box options that you can easily configure to meet your operational needs:
- Maximum working time per day
- Maximum working time per shift
- Minimum working time per shift
- Minimum time between shifts
- Maximum working time per week
We know that no two scheduling problems are exactly the same. Check out more configuration details in the documentation.
Looking for specific constraints or options? Let us know! With the Nextmv platform, you can build completely custom scheduling models (and more). We would love to learn more about your use case.
